Singed Hare

Through the flames he ran so fast Smoke and ash a fiery path Fur singed black the forest aflame Heart beats fast and drowns the pain Tiny cries behind the flame Push him on through fear and pain Somewhere near, the young still sleep And through the fire, he must leap Run little hero don’t look back Through the embers skies turn black With every leap a life was spared A charred coat hides how much you cared Through the fire he sheds his fear No time for doubt, nor despair Heat surrounds but he won’t stall The bravest one so small No one sees what size can hide The fear within lost inside Not for glory, not for pride But to keep others alive Run little hero don’t look back Through the embers skies turn black The lives you saved don’t know your name Still you raced through smoke and flame Though fur and flesh have turned to ash His courage carved a trail to last Those he saved still breathe today Because he never turned away Rest little hero don’t look back Through the embers skies turn black The lives you saved don’t know your name Still you raced through smoke and flame You gave it all, all you had No one saw the price you paid (You gave it all, all you had) (No one saw the price you paid)
