Trauma’s not my favorite painter, Nor these untidy lines it draws, Etching tattoos on my skin Not with needles but with claws. (I didn’t ask for this) Ok then, Paint me heavy-handed— Even my canvas tear apart, If I drip tears upon the palette I can turn them into art. Segment me unevenly, Only clashing colors pick I’ve learned to take the good and bad And turn them into a mosaic. (still whole) (not broken, arranged) Brushstrokes could’ve been colorful, But I can make the darkness shine, I didn’t choose to paint all black But this glitter is all mine! (my glitter) Ok then, Paint me heavy-handed— Even my canvas tear apart, If I drip tears upon the palette I can turn them into art. Segment me unevenly, Only clashing colors pick, I’ve learned to take the good and bad And turn them into a mosaic. (I bled...I stayed...I sang) When life draws on me in hatred, Or they paint on me toxic hues, I can choose to wash it off my skin But let what’s beautiful bleed through. (the toxic don’t get to stay) (let the good bleed through...bleed true) Paint me heavy-handed— Even my canvas tear apart, If I drip tears upon the palette I can turn them into art. Segment me unevenly, Only clashing colors pick, I’ve learned to take the good and bad And turn them into a mosaic. (we are the work) (still making beauty out of pain) (still art even now) ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 🌈© 2025 Nepenthe Poesia. All rights reserved. Lyrics written and owned by Nepenthe Poesia.
