Lyrics
There is a sound beneath the ground you've never learned to hear I have been sending it since long before you came I call across the miles in a voice too low for your ears to catch it Somewhere past the ridge, someone I love is listening for me I have been doing this since long before you gave it a name The world calls it silence, I call it reaching But a call this old was never going to stay Underneath forever I am not the silence that you're hearing I am a voice too big for your frequency Every call I've sent across the dry season Is a sound that's finally reaching you I called at dawn I called at dusk No one answered So I called again They think I've gone quiet I've just gone further I am not the silence, I'm the calling Every mile between us I still hold I sent this voice across a hundred seasons Long before you learned to listen close Ooh-aah-ooh I am not the silence that you're hearing I am the voice that never learned to stop Every year I called into the distance Is the sound finally breaking through There is a sound beneath the ground I never stopped sending it
