Lyrics
AIM Me Maybe [Verse 1] Friday night at the mall again Lip gloss shining with my best friends Low-rise jeans and a butterfly clip Flip phone ringing on my fingertips Saw your screen name light up green Cutest boy that I’ve ever seen You typed “hey” then disappeared Oh my God, I’ve waited all year [Pre-Chorus] I’m burning CDs in my bedroom Writing your name in silver Sharpie too Track number five says everything So baby, log back in— [Chorus] Boys, boys, boys on my AIM tonight Little red hearts and a flashing light You send “;)” and I lose my mind Dial-up love in the summertime Boys, boys, boys, call my flip phone Meet me by the food court, don’t come alone Burn you a CD, write “PLAY ME” twice Being seventeen was paradise [Verse 2] Photo booth pictures, four for five Orange soda, feeling so alive Your hoodie smells like your cologne Mom says, “Girl, get off that phone!” You changed your away message just for me: “Somebody’s got me going crazy…” I know that somebody better be me Or I’m blocking you immediately! [Pre-Chorus] Now Britney’s playing through the speakers You’re walking over in your brand-new sneakers My girls are screaming, “Here he comes!” I swear my heart just came undone— [Chorus] Boys, boys, boys on my AIM tonight Little red hearts and a flashing light You send “;)” and I lose my mind Dial-up love in the summertime Boys, boys, boys, call my flip phone Meet me by the food court, don’t come alone Burn you a CD, write “PLAY ME” twice Being seventeen was paradise [Bridge — playful vocal runs] Call me, beep me, Boy, don’t tease me Flip that phone and tell me you need me A-I-M, Ten P.M. Sign back on so we can flirt again Ooh-ooh, yeah— My screen name’s waiting for you! [Final Chorus] Boys, boys, boys and the mall at night Disposable camera with the flash too bright Your number written on my hand in blue Every little song reminds me of you Boys, boys, boys, what a perfect mess Lip gloss kisses and an away-message stress Before we knew what “online” would mean— You were my favorite notification on the screen. [Outro] Door opening sound… “You’ve got mail.”Wait— HE’S ONLINE!
