Before The Sun Goes Down

I'm sitting on the edge of a bridge Staring out into the abyss Lost in the vibrating sounds of the mighty Niagara The blue and green blends to perfection below The seagulls dive down in hopes of a meal As the sun begins to set I think to myself I've seen this a thousand times Each time a different painting From the different colors to the placement of the clouds It looks like a piece of the heavens that I long for The sound of the rushing water calms my soul Tomorrow isn't promised But tonight I'm still alive Watching heaven in the water As the daylight says goodbye And for once I'm not running Like the world expects me to I'm just sitting here in silence Learning how to feel the truth Behind me you can hear the cars driving Destinations unknown Moving to fast to take in the beauty over the horizon That's the story of life Always on the move Going too fast to observe the wonders that are right beside our windows You can see it You can hear it You can feel it in the air Little pieces of heaven Hidden everywhere Slow down Take a look around Life is singing softly In every little sound The water keeps on rushing But this moment feels so still Tomorrow isn't promised So tonight I finally will Today I take it all in With a new found appreciation for life If you take the time to notice You can see You can hear And you can feel how beautiful Life is all around us So take a moment Soak it all in The colors in the sky The chaos and the wind Tomorrow isn't promised but I was given today
