Out of Pocket

i been hoping
 there’s no place left to roam
 that all the empty spots on the map
 somehow filled themselves in the view out my front door 
i seen it all before i’m paying out of pocket
 cash strapped onto a rocket 
lovelorn and pining for 
imaginary fjords i’m acting out of pocket
 got teeth inside a locket 
broke down and begging for more 
a flesh-and-blood dinosaur i been thinkin 
maybe i was too hasty
 to cancel HBO Max and Disney
 before i finished watchin House of the Dragon
 n that movie i liked as a kid the view out my back door
 would be nice…
if i’d gone with the house 
with the back entrance i’m paying out of pocket
 had proof but went and hocked it
 lovelorn and pining for 
more comforting folklore i’m acting out of pocket
 popping joints right out their sockets 
broke down and begging for more
 a tacky statement skirt 
a real eyesore and if i ever 
learn the error of my ways 
i’ll make it my life’s pursuit
 to dumb up those brains
