PLAYLIST SONG NOTES I'm pre-releasing my #DiamondInTheRough challenge song as part of my #ThrowbackThursday as this is a song I wrote back when I was still a free user. It was originally a response to a Suno challenge for #BuddahBlessThisBeat, one of the remix challenges to win extra Suno credits and cash. Since the template was basically just beats, you could do just about anything with it. I wrote a couple of my own songs (one was a Steely Dan inspired tune). I wasn't impressed with the tune I got the first time, plus to unlink it from the remix contest, I copied the lyrics and created a new gen, re-working the style to better fit my original intention. I genned it a few times and got two potential catchy tunes. I liked them both, so as an experiment, I mashed them together. What I got was this; a song that totally could have had airplay in the time period, as if I had luckily captured it playing without the DJ talking over the start or end thanks to a cassette recorder placed next to a radio speaker. (IYKYK) SONG LYRICS [Intro] [slap bass, bright synth pads, driving drums] (Ah-ah-ah-ah) [vocal runs] (Ah-ah-ah-ah) [Verse 1] [bass and drums continue, clean electric guitar scratching] I caught whispers in the night, late calls in disguise I saw glimpses of the truth, I just couldn't believe my eyes Your trust was hidden deep, locked in your phone Your secrets spilled, now you're overthrown You thought you could play, but I'm a queen Now I rise above, leaving you unseen [Pre-Chorus] [distorted guitar power chords enter] I thought you were true, but you wore a mask I cracked your code, you can't disguise the lies from the past [Chorus] [full band, high-energy rock feel] I'm stronger now, I'm breaking free Don't need you now, 'cause your heart's guilty I've broken the chains, washed away by the pain No more tears to cry, no more lies to buy My broken heart will mend, because without you I'm alive again [Verse 2] [acoustic guitar enters, half-time drum feel] Independence is mine, I found my own way The vision's brighter without you, I'm no longer led astray [full drums return] You were a shadow, but now I see I'm soaring high in my own destiny [Pre-Chorus] I thought you were true, but you wore a mask I cracked your code, you can't disguise the lies from the past [Chorus] [soaring female vocals] I'm stronger now, I'm breaking free Don't need you now, 'cause your heart's guilty I've broken the chains, washed away by the pain No more tears to cry, no more lies to buy My broken heart will mend, because without you I'm alive again [Outro] [synth bells, driving bass] I'm alive again I'm alive again Without you, alive again Without you, alive again [final drum hit]
