Lyrics
+++++ [Intro] [Dead silence] [Very distant wind] [Old door creaking slowly] [Low female whisper] I know this place… [Pause] [Verse 1 — Female, fragile, haunting] The hallway knows my name Though I have never been here The portraits watch me breathe Their eyes are getting nearer A candle shakes alone The flame begins to bend I hear somebody call But there is no one there [Whispered backing] No one there… [Pre-Chorus — slowly rising] I feel the floor beneath me Move like it's alive Something is standing behind me But I don't turn around [Female whisper] Don't turn around… [Chorus — haunting, wide, emotional] There’s something in this house Calling me home Something in the walls That won't leave me alone I hear it when I'm sleeping I feel it when I breathe Something in this house Knows everything about me [Low female backing] About me… About me… [Verse 2 — Female, darker] The staircase starts to breathe The shadows cross the ceiling A photograph falls down And suddenly I'm screaming The room is getting cold My heartbeat fills the dark Then someone says my name From somewhere in the walls [Whispered backing] Come closer… [Pre-Chorus — stronger] I feel the floor beneath me Move like it's alive Something is standing behind me And now I hear it crying [Whisper] It's crying… [Chorus — bigger] There’s something in this house Calling me home Something in the walls That won't leave me alone I hear it when I'm sleeping I feel it when I breathe Something in this house Knows everything about me [Female high harmony] Everything… [Bridge — almost completely stripped] [No drums] [Single piano notes] [Breathing] [Low distant heartbeat] Female: Who are you? [Silence] Whisper: You know me. Female: I don't know you… Whisper: You forgot. [Long silence] [Sudden deep impact] [Final Chorus — huge, terrifying, cinematic] There’s something in this house Calling me home Something in the walls That won't leave me alone I hear it when I'm sleeping I feel it when I breathe Something in this house Knows everything about me [Layered female whispers] Come home… Come home… Come home… [Female lead, powerful and broken] I know this place… [Whisper] You always have. [Outro] [Door slowly closing] [Wind] [One distant bell] [Female breath] [Silence]
