Lyrics
[Intro — spooky organ and jangly guitar] Ooh, ooh… Who’s chasing who? [Verse 1] Five of us at an iron gate, One wrong turn, now we’re running late. There’s a light upstairs and an open door, Then a curtain moves on the second floor. We should leave, but we’ve got to know, Someone says, “Come on, let’s go.” There’s a muddy footprint halfway up the stair, And a laugh from a room, but nobody’s there. [Pre-Chorus] Count us once, then count again, Who let number six come in? Hear those footsteps down the hall? That’s not one of us at all! [Chorus] Run, run, who’s chasing who? We’ve got company coming through! Round that corner, through that door, Haven’t we been in this room before? Hey, hey, keep us all in sight, Nobody gets left behind tonight. We’ll find out before the night is through— Run, run, who’s chasing who? [Verse 2] Two of us behind a chair, Three beneath the winding stair. Those heavy boots give the ghost away, And it left white paint on the doorframe. There’s a silver necklace on the floor, And a trail that leads to the cellar door. Missing jewels in a wooden case— Someone’s using this as a hiding place. [Pre-Chorus] Now we know what’s going on, Scare us off and the jewels are gone. Then the handle starts to turn— Everybody, time to run! [Instrumental Chase — bouncy bass, organ and guitar] [Bridge — hushed, building] Hang the net above the door, Stretch the rope across the floor. One of us will lead him through, All the rest know what to do. Here he comes, get out of sight, Wait until the timing’s right. Pull that rope and watch it fall— There’s no ghost beneath that mask at all! [Final Chorus] Run, run, who’s chasing who? We’ve got one last trick for you! Round that corner, through that door, You won’t scare us off anymore. Hey, hey, keep us all in sight, Nobody gets left behind tonight. We’ve caught up, now we can see right through— Run, run, who’s chasing who? [Outro — bass and organ] Five of us at the iron gate, One last look as we drive away. We caught our ghost, so who’s that upstairs? And why’s he floating out of there? [Pause — full-band return] Run, run, who’s chasing who!
