Lyrics
[Intro] [Verse 1] While I was walking through the wooded glade, I came upon something so beautiful and gay. Her eyes were like starlight, her hair the color of wine. I thought that I beheld something truly divine. She walked with a grace both magical and fine. To see her thus caught me as something so sublime. My lady come dance with me, I said with poise and charm. She offered her hand to me and we dance arm in arm. [Chorus] Oh, carry the song on the breath of the breeze, Through the silvered mist and the whispering trees. Willow, oh willow, bend low to the sound, Where the heart of the forest and the spirit are bound. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Through the willow. [Verse 2] Down by the river the old willow grows. Memories of time that only she knows. Her ageless face and quiet grace hears the waters chime. Through all the tears and joy and fears blow the sands of time. There came a day at sunset when tragedy befell. She watched her beloved upon the frozen shell. He rescued their son but through the ice he fell. Down the current pulled him and the death bell toll a knell. [Instrumental Break] [Chorus] Oh, carry the song on the breath of the breeze, Through the silvered mist and the whispering trees. Willow, oh willow, bend low to the sound, Where the heart of the forest and the spirit are bound. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Through the willow. [Verse 3] The years they flew by like the leaves on the stream, And she raised her son up, like a beautiful dream. With a heart full of courage and eyes so clear they shined, He grew tall as the willow, into a man so fine. He carried the strength of the father who was lost, A love that survived every wintery frost. And she smiled in the twilight, her duty now done, For the light of her spirit lived on in her son. [Bridge] Now old and grey she takes her faltering steps. She walks to the shore where his body rests. Beneath the ancient willow tree she draws her final breath, She calls to her husband "Now beside you I rest." As she closes her eyes, she sees his smiling face, as he offers his hand with celestial grace. And she takes his hand and is once more young again... [Pre Chorus] Now the willow bows low where the quiet earth sleeps, And the wind through the branches a soft vigil keeps. She lays down her burden by the stone and the dew, To find in the silence the love that she knew. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Hear the wind through the willow. Through the willow. [Outro] Through the willow. Through the willow. Through the willow.
