There Goes the Band

[verse - female vocal] I woke up to the sound of my boyfriend puking He was out with the boys they were new boot goofing I don't mind but it's time and it's all consuming I can't come in second place to beer pong and bruising. [verse - male vocal] She looks good in those jeans and her hair is awesome But I have to hold it back it becomes a problem I just want to take her out without hitting bottom I really wish I could find a girl who isn't rotten. [bridge - alternating] FEMALE: I really wasn't looking but you found me by the woodshed MALE: I told my date I had to... it was really an appointment FEMALE: You said, "Are you escaping?" MALE: I said, "Technically, not yet." BOTH: Then we laughed like two fugitives with nothing left to protect. [chorus - both] Ahhh Oh oh Under the moon you look like a good decision Ahhh Oh oh In this light I have little inhibition Ahhh Oh oh Could it be fate, or just a strange collision? Ahhh Oh oh Feeling like change is a welcomed excision [verse - female vocal] I left him there alone with the television Sent a text that said we're done with no punctuation Didn't cry, didn't fight didn't need permission Guess the quickest way to leave is making one decision. [verse - male vocal] She called me seventeen times while we crossed the parking lot Said I owed an explanation I explained that I did not You were laughing by the fence with your jacket tied in knots I forgot about the girl who made me scared of what I've got. [pre-chorus - alternating] FEMALE: Maybe this is reckless MALE: Maybe reckless works FEMALE: Maybe we're rebounding MALE: Maybe they were jerks FEMALE: Maybe this is temporary MALE: Maybe that's okay BOTH: But I've known you forty minutes and I kinda want to stay. [chorus - both] Ahhh Oh oh Under the moon you look like a good decision Ahhh Oh oh In this light I have little inhibition Ahhh Oh oh Could it be fate, or just a strange collision? Ahhh Oh oh Feeling like change is a welcomed excision [verse - female vocal] We drove until the streetlights gave up on the highway Bought some coffee at a truck stop sometime after Friday You told me all your worst traits I said, "Those don't scare me" You said, "Give it a week." I said, "Okay, come dare me." [verse - male vocal] You stole fries off my plate like we'd done this forever Said your boyfriend hated punk rock so I liked you even better There was ketchup on your sleeve and bad weather getting wetter And somehow every stupid thing kept pulling us together. [breakdown - call and response] FEMALE: You're not my type. MALE: Thank God for that. FEMALE: You talk too much. MALE: You talk right back. FEMALE: This could go bad. MALE: I've had worse plans. FEMALE: You wanna kiss me? MALE: Well... BOTH: There goes the band. [half-time chorus] Ahhh Oh oh Under the moon you look like a bad idea Ahhh Oh oh But every bad idea looks pretty good from here Ahhh Oh oh Maybe tomorrow makes it disappear FEMALE: But tonight MALE: Right now BOTH: I want you near. [bridge - softer, duet] FEMALE: I wasn't asking for forever MALE: I wasn't asking for a sign FEMALE: I was only trying to disappear MALE: For maybe half the night FEMALE: Then you showed up accidental MALE: Right place, worst possible time BOTH: Two people done with wasting love found something worth the crime. [final chorus - both] Ahhh Oh oh Under the moon you look like a good decision Ahhh Oh oh No more rehearsing somebody else's vision Ahhh Oh oh Maybe it's fate, maybe poor supervision Ahhh Oh oh Either way, baby, I'm done asking permission. [final refrain - overlapping vocals] FEMALE: I left him there alone MALE: I left her blowing up my phone FEMALE: Didn't know where I was going MALE: Didn't wanna go back home BOTH: We weren't looking for each other We were looking for a door Funny how you find somebody when you can't take anymore. [outro] FEMALE: So... was that really an appointment? MALE: No. FEMALE: Thought so. BOTH: Ahhh Oh oh...
