Inside A Falling Ball

You laugh and the street turns pale A snow ball melting in your hand I watch it drip along the rail Then catch the cold against my hand We drift inside a falling ball Everything white, everything small You and I, the quiet thaw Soft against the morning wall Your scarf is loose, the light is thin A glass ball spinning on the sill I tip it once and watch it spin The tiny storm still standing still We drift inside a falling ball Everything white, everything small You and I, the quiet thaw Soft against the morning wall One slow turn, then the drop returns Stay with me while the soft snow burns We drift inside a falling ball Everything white, everything small You and I, the quiet thaw Soft against the morning wall
