The Sailor Lass's Shanty

[Intro] [Verse 1] Well, this ol' lass jumped on board the ship Said she yearned to be a sailor Since she was only 12 But soon as we left port It was nothin' but whingin' [Chorus, harmonic vocals] (Hey!) Right, ye lads, now listen here Ye wanna work a ship? Well ye gotta get tough Ain't no time for pleasure or leisure When yer fightin' these rapids [Verse 2] Well, she got herself together But the question that remained Was this a test of our patience from God Or was this a sign of modern times Well, we just had to find out As we approached our first rapids [Chorus] (Hey!) Right, ye lads, now listen here Ye wanna work a ship? Well ye gotta get tough Ain't no time for pleasure or leisure When yer fightin' these rapids [Verse 3] Yeah, she made it through her first storm Did much better at it than us wee lads But yet, there's many more to come She's only just seen the beginning [Chorus] (Hey!) Right, ye lads, now listen here Ye wanna work a ship? Well ye gotta get tough Ain't no time for pleasure or leisure When yer fightin' these rapids [Verse 4] Then, she'd seen some British ships Trying to fire at us Didn't even blink once Got the cannons ready And within minutes those British ships were down Yet somehow we didn't notice any of it Must just be our old brains wearin' out [Chorus] (Hey!) Right, ye lads, now listen here Ye wanna work a ship? Well ye gotta get tough Ain't no time for pleasure or leisure When yer fightin' these rapids [Verse 5] Well, 6 months later, we arrived back at port The cheer was immeasurable Like as though we'd done something massive She said "Take me on another sailin' trip" We said "We wish, but we don't sail again for another 3 months, wee lass 'Til then, it's off to the pub we go" [Chorus] (Hey!) Right, ye lads, now listen here Ye wanna work a ship? Well ye gotta get tough Ain't no time for pleasure or leisure When yer fightin' these rapids [Repeat Chorus] (Hey!) Right, ye lads, now listen here Ye wanna work a ship? Well ye gotta get tough Ain't no time for pleasure or leisure When yer fightin' these rapids
