Static Between Us

I still hear your name In places that forgot us first... I found your shadow in the coffee stains On mornings that don't even know my face The city learned your footsteps better than I did Now every street pretends it never heard us laughing Your favorite song still slips into my headphones Like fate forgot to update the playlist I'm trying not to read the sky like it's a message But every sunset wears your silhouette Tell me how you folded all those memories away Without leaving a single wrinkle in your heart I'm still wearing yesterday Like it's the only thing that fits You're already somewhere new While I'm still talking to the ghost of you Every "almost" echoes through my room Like love forgot the way back home You moved on like seasons do Quietly changing into someone I never knew If letting go is something hearts can choose Why am I still Static between us? I stopped checking if your light was on Stopped counting hours across the screen But healing isn't measured by the things we quit It's measured by the silence we survive Maybe someone laughs the way I used to Maybe someone knows the stories I began I hope they're gentle with the pieces of you I couldn't keep without breaking mine Time keeps telling me to breathe again But every breath still sounds like your goodbye I swear the distance isn't measured in miles It's measured in forgetting You're already somewhere new While I'm still talking to the ghost of you Every "almost" echoes through my room Like love forgot the way back home You moved on like seasons do Quietly changing into someone I never knew If letting go is something hearts can choose Why am I still Static between us? Maybe one day your name Will become just another constellation Beautiful because it's far away Not because I'm reaching for it Until then I'll learn that empty hands Can still hold tomorrow You're already somewhere new And maybe that's the ending love was written to I'll carry every scar into the bloom Until they stop looking like you You moved on like seasons do And maybe I will someday, too But tonight this lonely frequency is true There's still a little Static between us Less every heartbeat... Less every sunrise... Until your memory Finally lets me go...
