Lyrics
[A song about a woman in the desert that when she plays her instrument, it generates the power needed to run a Detroit techno club.] [Intro] [Verse 1] She walks the dunes with a wired guitar Strings like copper under a white-hot star One long groove from the sand to the street Hypnotic fuel for a hungry beat She strikes a note and the desert hums Current waking where the nightclub drums [Pre-Chorus] Hear the wire, hear it climb From the Sahara on a straight-time line [Chorus] Send the current through the wire Current running, desert fire Current for the midnight floor Current knocking on the clubhouse door [Instrumental Break] [Verse 2] Beautiful nomad with a generator hand Turning the wasteland into a dance-floor land Detroit is waiting on that rolling sound Lights go hungry till her groove hits town She feeds the circuit with a sunburned song Current steady, current strong [Pre-Chorus] Hear the wire, hear it climb From the Sahara on a straight-time line [Chorus] Send the current through the wire Current running, desert fire Current for the midnight floor Current knocking on the clubhouse door [Bridge] No city lives on silence long The floor needs voltage in the song She is the source, the desert key Current flowing, setting bodies free [Instrumental Break] [Final Chorus] Send the current through the wire Current running, desert fire Current for the midnight floor Current knocking on the clubhouse door Send the current through the wire Current running, desert fire [Outro]
