The Seat to the Right Based on the true story of my brother, Vincent. Around 12:30 in the morning, my brother Vincent had just dropped off his co-workers from the municipal office. He was driving alone along the Zigzag Road in Cuenca, Batangas. He looked to his right and saw someone sitting in the front passenger seat. The figure looked like a zombie, with a pale white face and haggard hair. Vincent was frightened. He asked it to get out of the car. It did not answer. So he began to pray the Apostles' Creed. As he prayed, the inside of the car turned as cold as a cave, and his voice echoed in the cabin. He kept praying and kept driving. The figure stayed until he passed Rancho Bridge. After the bridge, it was gone.
[Intro] [Verse 1] Half past midnight, last one home Dropped the office crew, their porch lights shrinking Radio keeps losing its one station Every bend on this road looks like the last bend [Pre-Chorus] I turn my head to the right Someone's sitting where my jacket was [Hook] Please get out of my car Hair like smoke, face like chalk I say it plain, I say it twice You don't answer, you don't go [Verse 2] So I start the only prayer I know I believe in God, the Father almighty The air turns cold as the inside of a cave My voice comes back a half-beat late (late) It doesn't sound like mine (mine) [Pre-Chorus] I don't turn my head to the right I already know who's sitting there [Hook] Whatever you are, get out Not a question now, a creed Cold folds over every word I say You don't answer, you don't leave [Bridge] Maker of heaven and earth The resurrection of the body And life everlasting (everlasting) And the road keeps turning [Hook] Rancho Bridge slides under the wheels The cold lifts off like a hand from my shoulder I never said get out again The seat is empty, and I drive on home [Outro] Somewhere behind me a headlight finds the first bend Half past midnight, someone's almost home The seat to the right is waiting (waiting)
