Lyrics
**THE LAST TO KNOW** [Verse 1] Did you hear me laughing When you crossed the square? You looked straight through me... Like I wasn't there. Did you count the shadows Hanging by your side? Funny how the clever Are the last to hide. [Verse 2] Did you know I waved As you left your home? I was just behind you... Never walked alone. Bought a drink beside you, Raised a silent glass. You were telling stories... I was counting paths. [Chorus] Smile for me... The night is young. One more joke Before you're done. Dance for me... You've played your part. You never heard The second heart. [Verse 3] Every crowded market Makes a perfect stage. Every friendly stranger Turns another page. Every whispered greeting, Every passing grin... Some of us are leaving. Some are closing in. [Bridge] I Never wear a mask. I Never hide my face. Truth is so much funnier When it's out of place. Everyone is watching Someone else instead. That's the little secret Keeping people dead. [Final Chorus] Smile for me... Don't turn around. The quiet ones Don't make a sound. Raise your cup... Toast the night. You'll never know You got it right. [Outro] When they ask Who took your breath... Tell them... You never met.
