I am a poor wayfaring stranger Traveling through this world of woe; Yet thereโs no sickness, toil, nor danger In that bright land to which I go Iโm going there to see my mother, She said sheโd meet me when I come; Iโm going there to see my father, He said heโd guide me safely home. I know dark clouds will gather โround me, I know my way is rough and steep; But golden fields lie out before me, Where Godโs redeemed their vigils keep Iโll soon be free from every trial, My body from this flesh shall rise; Iโll drop the cross of self-denial, And enter in the joy-filled skies. Iโll fly away to that home of glory, Where saints and angels sing and shine; Iโll join the ransomed, tell my story, And leave this weary world behind. Iโll journey on through the night and darkness, Till I behold the morning light; There in that land of joy and gladness, All sorrow ends and all is bright. I know my soul will find sweet heaven, Where trials and troubles are no more; With saints and angels there in glory, Iโll dwell with God forevermore. โm just a stranger here in this land, Iโm seeking that home beyond the sky; No mortal sorrow, no earthly anguish, Shall reach me where the saved ones lie. Iโll sing with joy through endless ages, Where sorrow never dims the light; With harp and crown and angel faces, Iโll praise my Lord both day and night.
