๐ŸŽ‡ Stage lights, fireflies, and two new ways to run a contest

A broadcast stage for streams, a proper host console, the Firefly lyric visualiser, a big contest voting upgrade, two new contest formats, and shareable stream playlists.

This week's list is shorter than the last two. That's not the pace slowing: a good chunk of the week went into bigger pieces that aren't ready to show yet. They will be soon. Here's what did land, by who it's for.

For everyone

  • Firefly, a new lyric visualiser. Fireflies drift over a night meadow and the words splash into the water as they're sung. Available in fullscreen and on streams, right next to Scroll, Follow, and Vibe in the lyrics switcher.
  • Contest voting is a much better experience. Contest pages now update live as phases change and votes land, every entry plays straight from the ballot, and in cover contests each ballot row links to the original track it answers. Ballot order is shuffled per viewer, so nobody wins by being listed first. If you voted in Under the Covers this weekend, you've already felt most of this.
  • Every ended stream leaves a playlist you can share. Past streams' playlists now have a public page: send one link and anyone can hear what the party sounded like. Public tracks only, as always.
  • Song pages link to the source. A track's page now points back to where it lives on Suno or YouTube, and stream viewers can play tracks and follow those links right from the stream page.

For streamers and hosts

  • The stream page split in two. Hosts get a real console: queue, skips, controls, and now-playing in one purpose-built layout. Viewers get a clean listening page with none of the host clutter.
  • The Stage. Every stream now has a broadcast screen built to be captured in OBS or screen-shared: big cover art, lyrics, visualisers, and a Showcase layout dressed in your theme. It stays in sync with your console, down to the lyric scroll position.
  • Your own home base. Streamer pages gather your schedule, past streams, and bio in one place, the Community directory now lists streamers alongside creators, and sharing your page unfurls with a proper preview card.

For contest organisers

  • Two new contest formats. Theme Vote: entrants make a track for a theme and the community ranks the winners, with point weights you control. Judged: you or a guest judge hears the entries wherever you like and appoints the ranked winners on the site, no public vote. That's four formats to pick from now.
  • Unlisted contests. Run a contest only people with the link can see.

Written by a language model again; the humans are heads-down on the bigger pieces. See you when they land.
