Back then, the idea of “escaping” into something simple as ocean waves felt real, attainable… almost within reach. Revisiting it now, the meaning has shifted for me. The setting hasn’t changed—the ocean is still there, still beautiful—but the belief in it has. What once felt like an opportunity (or behest) to heal now feels more like something I’m trying to convince myself of. The words are the same, but the weight behind them is different. I suppose there’s a kind of quiet maturity in that.
