[intro: filtered funk groove, crowd chants, wah guitar, bass tease] (Oh yeah — get funky now!) (Strut it out! Strut it out!) Whoa-oh, whoa-oh— Here we go! [verse 1: tight bass-forward pocket, playful vocal swagger] There’s an ostrich on the loose, Mirror shades and polished shoes, Cutting clean across the avenue, Every step says, “Make some room.” Neon feathers catch the light, Left foot smooth, then snap it right, Traffic stops to watch him slide— Whole damn boulevard comes alive. [pre-chorus: drums lift, brass answers, rising harmonies] Feathers flying everywhere, He don’t mind, he just don’t care, Coolest bird for miles around— Hear those people shouting now! [technical: buildup] [chorus: explosive full-band hook, gang vocals, brass fanfares] (Strut! Strut! Strut!) That funky ostrich! (Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!) He owns the night! (Dance! Dance! Dance!) Nobody stop this— Come on, come on, Groove for a while! Strut like the street is your runway, Move like tomorrow can wait, Shake those feathers into daylight— Funky ostrich, lead the parade! [verse 2: groove returns with clavinet and guitar interplay] Tilted hat and golden chain, Moonwalk dancing through the rain, Every corner knows his name, Every sidewalk joins the game. Taxi horns become the brass, People clap as he walks past, No regrets and no looking back— Just one bird with maximum funk. [pre-chorus: stronger harmony stack] Feathers flying everywhere, He don’t mind, he just don’t care, Coolest bird for miles around— Hear the whole town shouting now! [chorus: bigger drums, octave doubles] (Strut! Strut! Strut!) That funky ostrich! (Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!) He owns the night! (Dance! Dance! Dance!) Nobody stop this— Come on, come on, Groove for a while! [dance break: slap-bass solo, wah guitar answers, brass hits, crowd chants] (Strut it!) (Break it down!) (Funky!) One-two-three—HEY! One-two-three—HEY! [bass solo: syncopated slap bass with drum fills] [bridge: half-time theatrical build, vocals begin sparse then stack] Now he’s got a crew behind him, Every bird is dressed to blind ’em, Flamingos, pigeons, cockatoos, All in hats and dancing shoes. Shake it, shake it—feathers high! Strut it, strut it—touch the sky! Funky, funky—hear that sound— Birds of every feather, get down! [technical: crescendo] [breakdown: drums cut to claps, bass and voice] (Strut.) Strut. (Strut.) Strut. Who runs this town? (The ostrich!) I said WHO runs this town? (THE OSTRICH!) [technical: grand pause] [final chorus: maximum energy, full brass, disco strings, stacked gang vocals] STRUT! STRUT! STRUT! That funky ostrich! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! He owns the night! DANCE! DANCE! DANCE! Everybody join this— Come on, come on, Groove for a while!
