Lyrics
[Instrumental] [Chorus] Where has my love gone—she who was dawn to my endless night? Whose fur was woven starlight, whose howl was my guiding light? We raced through silver birch-paths where moonbeams pooled like cream, Two shadows fused by northern fire—more real than any dream! In the hush of Elderwood, beneath the moon's cold gaze, I caught your scent—a comet trail through frosted haze. Your fur! Not merely snow... but starlight spun to hide, While northern ribbons danced above, our fated path implied. How we raced through silver birches, shadows intertwined, Your laugh—a crackling hearthflame—warming midnight's rind. Eyes molten gold reflecting our shared, steaming breath, Two plumes becoming one against the sky's emormous breadth. Wolf-song harmonies pierced the cold—a vow to star-strewn heights— As northern rivers bled green fire across the vaulted night. There—beneath heaven's frozen blaze—we forged our lifelong claim: Two voices braided into one, ignited by that flame. [Chorus] Where has my love gone—she who was dawn to my endless night? Whose fur was woven starlight, whose howl was my guiding light? We raced through silver birch-paths where moonbeams pooled like cream, Two shadows fused by northern fire—more real than any dream! [Verse 2] Three winters passed in quiet grace—our den beneath the yew, Your warmth curled 'gainst my ribs each dawn, the sky a silver hue. We tracked the elk through valleys deep, shared kills on sun-warmed stone. Our howls a lullaby for pines that never felt alone. Then came the thunder—human shouts—the snapping branch, the fear. We bolted blind through choking fog—your scent still sharp and near! A gorge! I leapt—but heard your cry cut short behind the mist. Standing alone I turned back, and called to you. Only silence answered. Dawn till dusk—through frozen marsh—I track what's left behind: A snapped fern here, claw-scraped bark there, hope gone thin and blind. Snow numbs my paws but not the ache—your name howled to the grey... While every shadow wears your shape then swiftly melts away. [Chorus] Where has my love gone—she who was dawn to my endless night? Whose fur was woven starlight, whose howl was my guiding light? We raced through silver birch-paths where moonbeams pooled like cream, Two shadows fused by northern fire—more real than any dream! [Verse 3] Found you curled where ice meets stone—a crimson-stained embrace... Your breath a ragged, rattling thing, frost crystallizing on your face. That arrow shaft—a blasphemy—still trembling in your side... While gold eyes dimmed like dying embers sought mine one last time. You whispered 'Mate, come near my love'—through blood-flecked, frosted breath, Then pressed your muzzle to my heart and drew one last warm breath. She said to me 'I leave you now, the best of me, I fear I'll nay return, I'll wait for you beyond the veil where northern lights still burn.' Your final sigh—a plume of steam—that vanished in the air. Leaving only silence and an endless void as I looked upon my lady fair. Death had taken my mate away, my soul was ripped asunder. Now I roam these woods alone, haunted by her slumber. [Bridge] Rose on numb paws—ignored the thaw that pooled beneath your fur... Called your name through driving sleet till throat was raw and blurred. Followed tracks—my own—in circles round that blood-stained stone... Convinced the crows were lying when they said that she was gone. Till at last I stumbled back—my mind a broken wheel— And saw you lying still again... the wound no dream could heal. So now I lay beside her form, my muzzle pressed to hers. Ignoring how the ice has formed around her frozen fur. Never will I rise again, I'll chase her in my dreams. My voice will raise one last cry...that echo 'cross the streams. [Chorus] Where has my love gone—she who was dawn to my endless night? Whose fur was woven starlight, whose howl was my guiding light? We raced through silver birch-paths where moonbeams pooled like cream, Two shadows fused by northern fire—more real than any dream!
