✍🏻 LYRICS \u0026 COMPOSITION BY EME LATINA (2026) ------------- ABOUT: ------------- ▶️ The challenge was to create a song based on a real fairy tale, folk tale, or fable. We could retell the story, reinterpret it, shift the point of view, or focus on a specific character or moment in a new way, but the connection to an existing traditional tale had to remain clear. 🪄 My fairytale inspiration: Beauty and Beast ------------------------------- MY INTERPRETATION: Wicked and the Beast ------------------------------- Instead of retelling the classic narrative, I explore Belle's character thru the lens of someone who learned that reality isn't a fairytale. In this version, Belle is no longer the sweet, patient girl the village expects. She grows sharper, more self-aware, and less willing to fix or romanticize others. I've always gravitated toward her principal attributes: an avid reader, a generous person, courageous when needed, and often seen as different. The song plays with the idea that the real transformation isn’t the Beast turning into a prince, but rather Belle changing because of experience. Here, she rejects the role of “Beauty” entirely. She’s labeled “wicked,” not because she’s cruel, but because she’s independent, guarded, and unwilling to conform. What others see as “malicious” is really her choosing herself. Lyrically, I blend theatrical elements with a confident, slightly rebellious tone to show that contrast. There's a sense of loss for who she used to be, but, little by little, an acceptance of who she becomes, and you feel that vulnerable part of her still in the music. I used spoken parts of the soundtrack to guide the story. ------------- LYRICS: ------------- [intro - spoken word] "Good Morning Belle!" "Where you off to?"
